Have you heard about #GivingTuesday?

Giving TuesdayThis week at Modern Kids Design we’re giving thanks for a new tradition, and we invite you to join us in learning more about Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a global movement aimed at putting a little more love back into the Holiday Season.

Giving Tuesday was started by the 92nd Street Y in New York City and the United Nations Foundation. In 2012, the 92nd Street Y and the UN Foundation gathered together a group of influencers to build a global philanthropic movement that now engages 10,000 organizations worldwide on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year.

The official name of Giving Tuesday is “#GivingTuesday”. Choosing a hash tag to promote their cause shows that Giving Tuesday is all about getting the word out. The goal of Giving Tuesday is to spread the message of giving far and wide. It’s easy to do and it can be fun to join the effort. Here are a few ideas:

  • Send a shout-out to your favorite charity or cause through your social media accounts.
  • Remember to include the hashtag: #givingtuesday
  • Search the hashtag: #givingtuesday on social media and retweet or repost to help other people spread the word for their favorite charity or cause

Here at Modern Kids Design, we’d be hard pressed to choose a favorite nonprofit or cause. Every cause, charity and social enterprise contributes to society to fulfill an important need. We endeavor to support 40 unique nonprofits through our “shop for a cause” giving program which  we now like to call our Shop+Give program. Whenever you shop with us and select a cause you’d like to support, 5% of your purchase goes to one of our nonprofit partners. We like to stay in the giving groove all year long. 🙂

Giving Tuesday is a special day so please check it out and help spread the word. You can be part of establishing a new tradition that brings a little balance back to Holiday Season.
