Spotlight on Petit Collage – Décor with a Vintage Twist

Today at Modern Kids Design we feature  Petit Collage, a company that designs products that feel both modern and vintage. It’s almost hard to believe that’s possible, yet they do it with great success.  Part of the fun of being a parent is setting up your child’s bedroom – a sanctuary defined by color, laughter and design. Take some inspiration from Buenos Aires native Lorena Siminovich, a San Francisco-based designer who has just the eye for retro-inspired artwork. Founder of Petit Collage, a line of modern midcentury-inspired wall décor and accessories characterized by a vintage twist, Lorena executes the perfect vision of retro-art and simplicity in her artwork.

Launched in 2006, Petit Collage has expanded to include mobiles, furniture pieces, mirrors, prints on wood and accessories to modernize any child’s room. Situated in a bright, sunny studio in San Francisco, it’s not hard to imagine how Lorena and her team  ever fall short of creative imagery and inspiration. Lorena’s background is as an author (she has written and illustrated over 20 children’s books published worldwide) and it is evident in the Petit Collage collection. Each piece of artwork yearns to tell a story – from the colorful storyboard prints to the mobiles. One of our favorites is the “Up in the Air Deluxe Bamboo Mobile” featuring a hot air balloon, a rocket, a helicopter and a plane from food-grade safe bamboo. The artwork’s intrinsic design sparks the curiosity of the viewer — baby and parents alike! One of the many things we love about this company and, it is something we think many parents will appreciate as well, is that Petit Collage utilizes forest-friendly materials whenever they can, such as sustainably harvested bamboo plywood and biodegradable adhesive fabrics for their wall decals. So if you’re thinking of adding an additional splash of sophistication to your home, you may want to consider these beautiful retro-inspired pieces from the Petit Collage line.  As always, thanks for reading!
