An item that combines both style and sustainability? Sounds like our cup of tea! A whole company that works to create useful products from something that would otherwise be discarded? Well, that’s a company we at Modern Kids Design want to highlight.
Introducing: Sonoma-USA
“Divert. Design. Deliver.”
Sonoma-USA is located in—you guessed it—Sonoma County, California. Using materials that would otherwise be thrown away, Sonoma-USA creates one-of-a-kind bags made in the United States.
Their message of sustainability doesn’t just include the materials they use. The company also employs locals to make their products, creating more jobs in their community. Plus, a percentage of each of their sales is earmarked for local charities.
Sonoma-USA works to keep things local. They source their materials locally from businesses, employ their neighbors, and give back to their community. Now that’s a business we can support!
Functional and Stylish

The Santa Rosa tablet and laptop sleeves come in four sizes, perfect for your MacBook or iPad. Each sleeve is unique and made from a part of a reclaimed banner or billboard and lined with neoprene to protect your tech. Of note, Sonoma-USA has earmarked a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of these sleeves to go to the Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks Scholarship Fund.
The Alvarado single wine carrier is great for picnics and hostess gifts. Crafted from reclaimed materials and lined with moisture repellant fabric (also reclaimed), it’s a great way to transport your favorite red, white, or sparkling wine. Five percent of the proceeds from this wine carrier go to the Sonoma-USA community fund. Also, be sure to check out another item from their Alvarado line, the Alvarado Duffel Bag is created from materials that used to be used to take wheat berries to the Alvarado Street Bakery.
