As a company, Modern Kids Design is on a mission to make the world more “green” by helping you discover products that are good for you and for the environment. We also strive to serve as a resource for inspiration and ideas on how to make healthy living a “no-brainier” because, well, living healthy is so cool. It’s important too but, yeah, we said it… healthy living is cool. And if you haven’t guessed, we’re based in California, the very cool San Francisco Bay Area.
About Us
Modern Kids Design was founded by Yvonne Hopkins, a dedicated green lifestyle enthusiast, blogger and mom. Yvonne had a hard time finding beautifully designed natural and Eco-friendly products for kids in different age groups. After speaking with other parents, she learned she wasn’t alone, and Modern Kids Design was born.
Now our team consists of a small group of parents equally dedicated to living green with kids that range in age from infants through teens. Just like you, we want safe yet good looking products for our kids. We also like to support independent producers or indie “makers” as much as we can. So, we’re always on the lookout for beautiful yet practical items for families.
About You
We strive to make MKD really more about you. Your kids deserve to be surrounded by beautiful products that are safe and effective and, you know, don’t contribute to allergies and, of course, don’t have a negative impact on the environment. We make it easy to find toys, furniture, gifts and more that have a clean design aesthetic and leave the Earth clean too.

The Modern Kids Design Blog is a place where you’ll find all sorts of information on healthy living and Eco-friendly products because we’ll write about anything (that interests our readers and us). And, of course, you’ll also find “good news” about inspiring environmental nonprofits doing good work in the world. Sometimes people ask who is writing the blog posts. These days, unless it clearly states it is a guest post, typically, we write and edit as a team. We share values and enjoy sharing ideas, so while it may be unusual to write that way, it works for us!
